A group of kayakers discovered a dead body in Mobile’s Dog River during a sunset paddle Monday night.
After finding the male body at about 6:15 p.m., the group of kayakers handed the scene over to Mobile Police Department investigators, according to a post on the kayak group’s website and MPD officials.
The body was found on a stretch of water between McVay Drive and the I-10. The group had been hoping to spot some manatee that had been reported in the area over the last couple of days.
Specific details regarding the body have not yet been released by police and the investigation is still ongoing.
